Today I learned (or re-learned), that the "My" in [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MySQL MySQL] does not stand for the English word [https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Lexeme:L1367828 my] but for the Swedish name My, which is the name of the daughter of MySQL co-founder [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Widenius Michael Widenius]. ♡

The name My was introduced by [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tove_Jansson Tove Jansson] for the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moomins Moomins] character [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_My Little My].

According to the [https://web.archive.org/web/20240213140718/https://www.kith.org/words/2023/03/17/how-to-pronounce-finnish-moomin-names/ Words & Stuff] blog: ''"Turns out that she was named after the Greek letter mu; for the Finnish pronunciation of Myy, see the video.
